| I know it's been a long time since I wrote anything, but I've been busy.
Anyway, I have to hand it to MySpace. Every time I feel sick of the single life, and ready to give in and consider trying out an online dating site, all I have to do is go to MySpace and see the ads I get to remind myself that I should avoid any site that resorts to that kind of advertising. Yup I'll stick to meeting girls the old-fashioned way thank you very much. Speaking of girls, today I went to MySpace only to find a message in my inbox, and wouldn't you know it was from a girl who was interested in me! This girl it seems, wants me to fulfill her fantasies, she liked all of my photos on my profile (that's right all 1 of them!), she thinks I'm the man of her dreams (it's amazing that she was able to figure that out from my profile, considering it doesn't say much except that I'm straight, single, and like the show Heroes), and best of all, this girl who was so sure of herself that we'd make the perfect couple, is also from Stevensville, MD, just like me! At this point, I thought (or actually knew) that it was too good to be true, so I went to her profile. I must say this girl is absolutely amazing, not only is she from Stevensville, but she's also from Alabama at the same time! She also has some "spicy" pictures that she can't post to MySpace, so I have to see them at her other site, and guess what, this other site just happens to be a dating site. Yup it all comes back to the low level of advertising that keeps me away from them.
I'm not saying Facebook doesn't have spam too. In fact, Facebook's spam is worse because it comes from my own "friends", people who I (vaguely) know and thought I could trust. This spam of course, comes in the form of application invites. I come on Facebook from time to time to check my friend requests, but instead, all I find is that one of my so-called friends wants to hug me, punch me, turn me into a zombie, or join their brigade of ninja-pirates.
OK, ranting done for today, maybe I should write about something other than things that annoy me next time, but at this rate "next time" could be next year.

| ... because I just lost it.
Maybe it's because I put "single" on my profile that I keep getting match.com adds at MySpace, but anyway, today's add featured a couple making out in a photo booth. Kind of reminds me of why I prefer Facebook over MySpace. Of course another reason is all the spam, I didn't realize my cousins and their friend had sent me friend requests because they were buried within all the requests from girls asking me to visit their "adult oriented" websites. Granted, being the geek that I am, I knew good and well what those "girls'" real intentions probably were. For all I know they're probably all geeks with no life trying to take me to websites that will install 50 viruses on my computer and use it as a zombie to send more spam messages. Oh yeah and don't get me started on all the crazy layouts that were apparently designed specifically to make my eyes bleed. Well, I hate to cut it short there but I have to leave for work. So with that I'll be off again, maybe I'll post something again sooner or later, or just whenever I have something else to rant about.

| I joined MySpace a while ago and still have only four friends (and that's including Tom). So instead of trying to track down all my friends that have MySpace, I'll just post here to let you all know in case anyone wants to add me as a friend there. And don't worry. This doesn't mean I'll neglect Facebook, well no more than I already am. :P

| Yesterday I went over to Best Buy in Annapolis to get some extra RAM for my laptop, which has been running a bit slow lately. So I come home, pop it in, and my computer didn't run, no matter what I did, until I put the original memory back in. So instead of packing up the 512 megs worth of memory to take it back, me and my dad decided to try it in another laptop. This laptop had several problems, the main one being that it had so much junk on it and not enough memory to load it into that it actually crashed upon starting up. So when we put in the extra memory, bringing the total up from 256 to 768, we were actually able to let everything load up without the computer crashing, and one AdAware scan later the computer was running smoothly! Now it still has some problems, but it's much better off than before.
So, one of the easiest upgrades you can do for a computer, so easy even a casual user can do it, can not only give you a significant boost to you computer's performance, but it can even resurrect a dead computer! I just wish I can get my hands on some memory that will work in my laptop.

| First, my sympathies to everyone who lost someone in the shootings at VA Tech. And now for what I'm really posting this for...
You know how in my last post I said that having my laptop charger die was a "geek's worst nightmare"? I lied. Today I experienced a geek's true worst nightmare. OK I'm probably lying again, this time I'll admit it, just so the forces of fate don't try to prove me wrong again. Before I go on though, I just want to say, especially to any family members that might be reading this, I am a responsible person, don't think I'm a screw-up just because of this. There are plenty of other reasons to label me a screw-up, but this is not one of them.
As I was leaving my first class today, I realized I had forgotten to pick something up. It wasn't my bookbag full of textbooks, it was something that cost even more money (surprisingly there are things that cost more than textbooks :P). It was my laptop. I was almost all the way to the commons to eat lunch when I realized I wasn't holding it. I ran back to the classroom, almost knocking some people over in the process (sorry), and it wasn't there. So I went all the way back to my car to see if it was there, it wasn't. So then I went to the commons to see if I could find anyone who was in the class that might have picked it up on the way out, I didn't look hard enough so I didn't find anyone. Then I went back to the classroom to look harder, it still wasn't there. Fortunately, I wasn't out of options yet, I went to the information desk in the commons to ask for help, and they told me that usually the professors will pick up any lost items in the classrooms after class. I got my professor's contact info and called him, and EUREKA! he had it! When I went to his office to pick it up, he was doing advising, which reminded me that I had to sign up for an advising appointment of my own, and now I'm signed up for an appointment at 12:00 on Monday. So, some good did come out of this, it must be fate. And besides that, all that running (yes, do you really think I was walking through all this?) got me some exercise, and reminded me how out of shape I am. Maybe I need to lose my laptop more often, and just in case the forces of fate are listening, I'M KIDDING!
